Saigon 1

Holiday in Saigon from 12-18 Feb. Saigon, a city of 10 million, and 20 million including Mekong Delta, makes it one of the most densely populated area in Asia. Saigonese are generally very much limited in English. And i keep on hearing "Sir can i have you? " instead of "Sir can i help you?" LOL.

Memories of Saigon would be streets full of motorbikes, chaotic traffic at times, bombastic wiring, hot sun, "xe-om", "cha-da", narrow houses, big indoor market with no aircond and french influences. The noise level is very high in the city. And the air is not clean.

I was staying in a hotel near Pham Ngu Lau - De Tham area, which is full of backpackers, bistro, souvenir shops and galleries. Its a busy area and fun to walk around.

To move around the city, i usually take a motorbike taxi - xe om, and they will just go anywhere i want to go. Food wise, i usually went for bistro, which is relatively cheaper compared to KL.

On the streets, tourists are constantly approached by shoeshine boys, xe-om, and people selling everything else. At night you will mostly get offer of "massa" (massage), and BOM BOM.

I don't think i need to explain what is BOM BOM. LOL.
